BloChallenge 2026

Digital technology and artificial intelligence for sustainable water resources management

An annual hackathon co-organised by BloLab, UniPod Benin, UNDP/AccLab and the National Institute of Water to transform ideas into prototypes and high-impact technological solutions.

Overview

BloChallenge is a challenge where teams of technology-driven young people, including Ecole229 learners, INE students, design profiles and external participants, develop high-impact technological solutions.

Selected teams benefit from intensive support to turn ideas into prototypes. Selected prototypes may then receive 6 to 12 months or more of support to become viable solutions for sustainable water management in Benin.

Specific objectives

  • Develop digital solutions for drinking water access, water quality, sanitation and wastewater management.
  • Support flood prevention, sustainable agricultural water use and improved governance of water resources.
  • Mobilise IoT, data, mobile applications, digital fabrication and artificial intelligence.
  • Stimulate collaborative innovation among students, developers, designers, engineers and water-sector experts.
